Eos aims to center the work and experiences of Black people in the field of classics, to shine a light on what has already been accomplished, and to reduce the risks—personal and professional— to those dedicated to this area of study, especially scholars of color.

The society exists to serve its members.
The Executive Committee keeps the society running on a day to day basis. The Advisory Board provides the EC with advice and support.
Co-founder and former EC member Caroline Stark has now joined the advisory board.
Devondra MacMillan and Sarah Derbew served on the EC in 2021 and 2022.
Jackie Murray joined co-founders Sasha-Mae Eccleston, Harriet Fertik, and Mathias Hanses on the EC in 2021.
We have hundreds of members from multiple continents and new members join on a weekly basis.
We are especially eager to hear from members about their interests, goals, and visions for the society’s future.
We are also eager to collaborate with other groups in the field of Classics and outside of it, especially those embedded within local communities, connected to cultural institutions, and dedicated to K-12 education.
