A Scholarly Society Dedicated to Africana Receptions of Ancient Greece and Rome

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Year in Review (2021-2022)

This year we have continued to expand our LUMINARIES series: don’t miss our conversations with Gregson Davis, Nikki Spigner, and many more.

We began 2022 at the Society for Classical Studies with a panel on “Black Athena Before Black Athena.”

Have you read Untangling Blackness in Greek Antiquity, the new book from EC Member Sarah Derbew? You can learn more about it at Aeon, Black Perspectives, FifteenEightyFour, and Public Books. Or check out podcasts with Prof. Derbew from Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness and New Books Network.

We will kick off 2023 with “Classics and Black Feminist Traditions,” our panel at this year’s meeting of the Society for Classical Studies. We hope to see you there!

And in case you missed it: check out the 2020-21 Year in Review!
